The roasting of 601 kids (“a la llama”) was the golden touch for one
of the best fiestas of the last few years.
El
Domingo 13 de Enero bien temprano comenzó a prepararse en el Predio
del Poli Deportivo Malal Hue todo lo que seria por el momento el
espectáculo del año, los 601 chivos asados a la llama.
Early Sunday on 13th of January the Malal Hue complex started with
preparations for what would become the show of the year, the
roasting of 601 kids.
The idea came from an entrepreneur called Alberto Sambinelli who
made his debut the year before preparing 250 kids and decided to set
a new record the following year.
The 601 kids were sold and the money obtained was donated to:
Malargue’s Hospital, Rotary Club, Taller Cumelén and Andem.

The great event needed 60 people to take care of 10 kids
each, 12,000 kilograms of firewood and 4 kilograms of wire.
More then 30 representatives of the national, regional and
local media were present during the festival. |
The site was visited by over 35,000 people who were able to enjoy
one of the most successful festivals of the last few years regarding
the quality of the participating artists, the general public and the
food stalls where hundreds of kids were sold every day.
There were also some cuisine surprises such as pasta dishes stuffed
with kid meat.
This was the twenty-second edition of the National Kid Festival and
the thirteenth edition of the Provincial Lamb Festival in honour to
all the breeders from the region.
