CITY OF MALARGUE
GENERAL SAN MARTIN PLAZA
This area has a high urban value
with spaces which are used for diverse activities surrounded by
old trees.
The central part resembles a
volcano and, inside the crater there is a cascade. There is also
an amphitheater called “Forum de la Polis”, an observatory with
spiral shape, a children playground and a big ornamental
fountain which looks like el Pozo de las Ánimas (Well of Souls).
The plaza houses a manifest
subscribed by the people and the government and was buried 16
November 2000 describing their aspirations and dreams for the
year 2025 and should be opened 16 November of that year.
TORRE DEL CINCUENTENARIO
This tower remembering the 50th anniversary of the
district is a huge reinforced concrete and steel tower with a
height of 17 meters and with a spectacular clock on the upper
part and was unveiled 16 November 2000 to remember the 50th
anniversary of the district and also to honor its pioneers.
It is located at the crossing of San Martin Avenue and General
Roca Avenue on the La Paz Square. The tower has a base of 4
meters from where the metallic structure supporting the clock
stems.
The reinforced concrete base measures 2,80 meters of width and 4
meters of length. It has 4 portals allowing for the circulation
of people. The highest part houses the clock’s machinery and is
protected by a roof.
The clock’s brand is “Centenario”, made in Mexico, weighs 550
kilograms and has 4 faces of 144 centimeters in diameter and a
central mechanism.
