THESAURUS CONVENTION AND EXPOSITION CENTER
You
will find it just behind the Tourism Secretariat, in the Parque del
Ayer. It was built below street level so as not to block the view.
It is like a treasure found under the surface and where the name
comes from.

MALARGUE REGIONAL MUSEUM
The
museum is also located in the Parque del Ayer, coming out of the
Convention Center on the right hand side on the route of access to
the city. The building is a re-construction of the original main
house belonging to the oldest estate, La Orteguita.
There are several rooms to be visited which will transport the
visitor to Malargue’s past, with paleontological remains,
representations of primitive cultures and objects and mementos from
the conquering of the desert.
RUFINO ORTEGA MILL
It
is located next to the museum, to the South. It is an old flour mill
(wheat was one of the traditional crops in olden days) and was
declared National Historical Museum. It is currently being repaired
and investigated.
“PIERRE AUGER” COSMIC RAYS OBSERVATORY
Just
across the street opposite the Regional Museum. Guests are welcome
at the visitors’ center and will get to know everything about this
scientific project of international renown, a unique in its kind
worldwide.
OUR
LADY OF THE ROSARY CHAPEL
It
stands on the left hand side of the first block of the boulevard and
it was the first chapel built in Malargue (1887). It was requested
by the inhabitants who crossed over to Chile during the summer
seasons and needed a place to hear Mass, get married and have
baptisms.
GENERAL SAN
MARTIN PLAZA
The San Martín Plaza is located in the downtown area of the city
opposite the Police Station. It was designed after the Payún Matru
Volcano; it has en elevation in the central part and a water cascade
inside the crater. This central depression is used for
commemorations and cultural events.
Visitors may have a pleasant moment here and also enjoy the
architectural beauty of the Municipal building which stands at the
corner of Inalican with Uriburu Streets.
